Algeria-born Rachid joined Jewish Care as a minibus driver over 20 years ago. After a two year stint behind the wheel, he turned to his love of cooking, becoming a chef. Today he’s a Chef Manager, leading a team of 18 people -- chefs, housekeeping staff, and general assistants -- handling everything from payroll to meal planning, and of course, cooking, at a 48 resident home.
“Jewish Care is a fantastic place to work, I’ve been here more than 20 years, I wouldn’t have been here as long as that if it wasn’t! Everyone takes care of each other and management offer lots of help and support to staff. Without them, I couldn’t have become a Chef Manager. Thanks to Jewish Care, I now have both food safety and management training under my belt"
Albert joined Jewish Care in 2003 as a carer, right after he arrived in the UK from the Philippines. He became a staff nurse in 2005 and continues to work as part of team of ten dedicated professionals taking care of 35 elderly residents.
It’s so rewarding to be able to do what I love. Jewish Care has given me so many opportunities over the past 14 years
