We have an exciting opportunity fot a Transport Coordinator to coordinate and administer Jewish Care’s care bus fleet ensuring maximum uptime, compliance, safety and ensuring the effective and efficient use of the fleet.

You will:

  • Coordinate the relationship between Jewish Care and chosen vehicle provider to ensure maximum uptime and efficient use of expenditure, ensuring that the service remains to budget 
  • Ensure compliance in regards to compliance to drivers and licensing
  • Assist resources in risk assessments of driving duties and in particular transport of clients
  • Ensure that all provided transport, staff and volunteer drivers are MiDAS compliant and to stay up to date with relevant legislation
  • Coordinate the Jewish Care fleet across all resources, prioritising the provision of vehicles based on need
  • Administration of transport related finances and tasks in collaboration with colleagues in Finance, Operations and Procurement
  • Coordinate accident investigation, to disseminate trends and learning and to support colleagues in insurance claims 
  • Collaborate with the procurement department on insurance claims, penalty notices, driver update forms and any other reasonable administration tasks as agreed with line manager
  • Carry out unannounced transport audits to ensure quality and safety of services, including daily vehicle inspection sheets and vehicle certification (MOT, LOLLER, PMI, section 19 permits and services) and to disseminate learning
  • Work with central community transport association on learning, information dissemination, section 19 permits and any other relevant legislation, developments or collaboration as agreed with line manager
  • Work with local community transport organisations in collaboration with resource managers
  • Coordinate transport meetings as agreed with local managers 
  • Coordinate volunteer minibus drivers
  • Coordinate  all drivers and busses where required such as special events or emergency situations

You will need:

  • MiDAS qualified driver and PATS qualified
  • Willingness to undertake the MiDAS Driver Assessor Training
  • Degree level or equivalent experience
  • Experience of community transport – minimum two years
  • Experience working with older people, people with disabilities and people living with dementia - minimum two years
  • Experience of coordinating people and resources
  • Experience working in a complex multi stakeholder environment
  • Outstanding knowledge of the Minibus Drivers Awareness Scheme
  • Standards outlined by the DVLSA, DVSA and The Highway Code
  • A knowledge of basic - moderate vehicle maintenance
  • Use of medical equipment such as oxygen cylinders on Buses

For insurance purposes the post holder must be over 22 years old with 3 years driving experience and hold a current full clean driving licence
