This part-time role (21 hours per week and may involve some weekend working) will be helping to provide an exceptional standard of care for our residents in Anita Dorfman House. The purpose of this role is to support and promote a range of activities to integrate users into the social life of the centre. This will include both centre and outing based activities. You will provide support to help clients lead as independent a life as possible and take a person-centred approach in the care of the residents. The role will support both elderly residents with dementia, as well as younger adults with physical disabilities. You will provide stimulating recreational, educational and therapeutic activities which are in keeping with Jewish Care’s values

What you'll be doing: 

  • Developing and implementing a programme of stimulating activities, including outings, that meet the social, physical, emotional and cultural needs of residents so that they are enabled to lead as full a life as possible

  • Lead activities and assist in the provision of an environment which is motivating and stimulating which reflects residents’ Jewish identity and cultural needs.

  • Incorporating activities around Jewish festivals in the recreational programme as needed to meet the requirements of residents

  • Encouraging residents to maintain their links with the Jewish community by participating in events outside the home so that their social and recreational needs are met

  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of activities in order to ensure success of the activities programme

  • Facilitate and minute residents ‘meetings to ensure that all views are listened to and incorporated into action plans as required

  • Supporting volunteers who assist with activities in the home as required so that the team is effective in meeting its objectives

What you'll need:

  • Experience of working with older people with dementia, adults with physical disabilities and younger adults with mental health challenges.
  • Experience of developing and implementing social activities within a care setting.
  • Experience of working with others, managing volunteers or staff that assist with activities.
  • Ability to organise and plan a person centred diverse social activity programme both in centre and outings.
  • A knowledge of issues affecting the older adults with dementia, younger adults with physical disabilities and mental health challenges.
