This role is working a fixed term maternity cover contract for up to 12 months and part-time working 22.5 hours per week

 An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen to join an award-winning charitable organisation seeking a Qualified Senior Social Worker to become an active member of our Social Work team set in North West London. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience of community and/or group work, combined with the qualifications to provide social work services.

The Senior Social Worker will work closely with individuals and their carer’s, as well as health and social care workers from Jewish Care, community, voluntary and statutory services, to support independence, promote choice and control for people facing difficulties due to ageing, caring responsibilities, illness, isolation, disability, mental health issues or changes in circumstances. 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supervising qualified Social Workers, volunteers and others as required
  • Developing multi-disciplined working relationships within Jewish Care, Statutory and Voluntary organisations
  • Holding an active case load of approximately 15-20 cases
  • Participating in a specialist forum developing knowledge and skills regarding Family Carers, Disability, End of Life Care or Dementia
  • Providing information and advice in accordance with current government health and social care guidance, and to conduct holistic assessments for Jewish people living in the community
  • Working with and supporting colleagues to identify local services and resources that promote independence, choice and dignity of individuals, carers and families, to enable people to remain within the community as far as possible

What you’ll bring to Jewish Care:

  • Qualifications in Social Work and Practice Education
  •  Social Worker Registration with Social Work England 
  • Experience of working in or with the voluntary sector and of community and/or group work
  • Experience of supervising Social Workers, Community Workers and/or Volunteers
  • Experience working with adults in a social care context (Desirable)
  • Significant working knowledge and experience of Safeguarding, Care Act (2014) and Mental Capacity Act (2005)
  • Excellent verbal, listening, writing, time management and IT skills
  • UK driving license and access to a vehicle for work
