The aim is to bring older adults into an environment where they will be less isolated, take part in activities which will give them a sense of wellbeing, whilst allowing them to stay as independent as possible.
This post is for 24 hours per week and will include evening and weekend working.
The main purpose of the role is to maximise members’ independence, dignity and choice through the provision of the activity programme, use of transport and providing person centred care
Principal Accountabilities / Responsibilities
To encourage service users to maintain their independence by understanding their needs, wants and limitations, ensuring that members are given the opportunity to express these fully.
To participate in the care planning process for individual service users to ensure their needs are fully understood, agreed and documented to the agreed standard.
To assist in personal care for female and male service users as agreed with them and in accordance with the information documented in their individual care plans.
To facilitate and lead activities where required and to assist in the provision of an environment that is motivating and stimulating for all service users, reflecting their Jewish identity and cultural needs.
To encourage and support the involvement of volunteers within the day-to-day programme of activities and care.
To provide transport for people to and from the centre and carry out any other driving duties as and when required.
To ensure that the vehicles are maintained to a proper standard of road worthiness and cleanliness.
To engage with the day-to-day coordination of care services provided, including the daily driving rota, and the operational decision making within appropriate policies.
Qualifications & Experience
Relevant NVQ or Care qualification.
Category D1 driving licence – required or willingness to undertake this training.
Note that the post holder must be over 22 years old with 3 years driving experience and hold a current clean driving licence.
Midas (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) certificate or willingness to undertake this training.
Experience of community work and working with elderly and vulnerable people.
Experience or understanding of working in a multicultural environment.
A knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance, and the ability or willingness to learn to drive minibuses up to 7.5 tonne.
