We are currently recruiting a living well facilitators to work at our Betty Asher Loftus Campus in Friern Barnet, London. The purpose of the Living Well Facilitator role is to promote, support and develop a stimulating program of recreational, creative and therapeutic activities, which are client-centred and offer meaningful activity daily, in keeping with Jewish Care’s values. 

Working Hours: 40 hours 

Working Pattern: The post holder will be working 5 days out of 7 with occasional weekend work.

Duration: This is a fixed term contract for 18 months. 

Pay: £23,929 (based on 40hours)

The Betty and Asher Loftus Centre (BALC) is a redeveloped centre and consists of one nursing home, two residential care homes and a day centre for people living with dementia. 

About you 

We are looking for someone who is passionate about improving the quality of life of older people and people with dementia in residential care. You will be keen to support residents to live their lives to the full and be adaptable and creative in meeting their diverse needs and interests. 

About the role 

  • Develop and implement a weekly program of stimulating activities, that meet the social, physical, emotional and cultural needs of residents, so that they are enabled to lead as full a life as possible 
  • Work as a link worker to one resource and work closely with the care manger and care staff to engage residents and staff in the daily activities sessions 
  • Organize and lead recreational outings for residents to support social and cultural engagement in the wider community 
  • Act as the frontline person to prepare the activities materials and coordinate the daily plan of activities sessions at your resource 
  • Take an active role within the team; planning and collaborating on  activities across campus and contributing to meetings as required
  • Build the relationships with families and care staff to support the individuals according to their abilities and needs 
  • Facilitate and lead group and individual activities, coordinate and support visiting artists and entertainers and manage celebration of resident’s birthdays 
  • Plan events and incorporate activities around Jewish Festivals to actively celebrate the Jewish way of life 
  • Work alongside the Volunteer Manager to identify and create volunteer roles and match them with the residents needs at your resource 
  • Maintain the activities records of groups and individuals (including photographs) 

What you will need 

  • Relevant experience of working with older people.  
  • Relevant experience of working with people with dementia would be desirable: this may be within the family or as part of work or volunteer experience.  
  • Relevant qualification in leading arts and recreational activities for older adults (or equivalent) would be desirable  
  • Ability to organize and plan a person-centred activity program both for groups and individuals 
  • Experience of managing volunteers or staff to assist with activities would be desirable 
  • Experience of working in a team 
  • Good communication skills
  • Basic IT skills essential
