This role is based at our Michael Sobell Centre in Golders Green, NW11. Working 37.5 hours each week over 5 out of 7 days, on a rota basis. There will be occasional Sunday & evening work to cover events.  This is a fixed term contract for 12 months.

The job holder will be working in the Cafe delivering daily services to our customers on the campus and will be an ambassador for the in-house catering and hospitality operation.

Principal accountabilities / responsibilities

 

  • Undertake basic food preparation, i.e. vegetables, salads and sandwiches, to agreed timescales and standards
  • Clean and clear food preparation areas to agreed timescale and standards
  • Prepare food counter areas and dining areas for service to agreed timescales and standards and ensure their appearance is inviting and pleasing
  • Provide service of hot/cold food and beverages to ensure customer needs are met
  • Assist in preparation and service of hospitality and events so that agreed standards and timescales are met & to ensure their success
  • Operate the till, taking payments, giving change and cashing up when required to agreed standards
  • On occasion you may be required to assist in service at other local sites to ensure the needs of service users are met
  • Ensure all working practice is to organisational and legislative standards to ensure best practice is met and maintained
  • Attend any catering hospitality service meetings required and to report regularly to the Front of House/ Hospitality Manager on any matters discussed with Customers to ensure the highest standards are met and maintained
  • Willingness to undertake supervision, NVQ training and any other training that may be appropriate
  • Willingness to support management
  • Willingness to comply with Jewish Care's dress code

Qualifications


  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate is required, however if not already attained, then the ability to undertake and pass this qualification is necessary
  • GCSE English or equivalent

 

Experience

  • Previous experience as an assistant in a cafe with at least 6 months professional work
  • Awareness of working in a multicultural environment
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety practices
  • Equal Opportunities awareness
