Redbridge JCC operates as a Jewish Community Centre, serving the large Jewish population of Redbridge and the surrounding areas. The Centre is the largest of its kind in western Europe, providing social, welfare, communal and educational service and programmes for all age groups.

The post holder is the first point of contact for the Centre, welcoming all visitors and telephone callers to the Centre. As such the post holder must be warm and friendly and be able to efficiently handle the entry and exit of all visitors to the site while managing the telephone system. The post holder is also responsible for attending to other front of house matters. In addition, they play an important role in providing administrative support for all departments.

What you'll be doing:

  • Welcoming visitors to the Centre respectfully, helpfully and with full attention to providing excellent customer care.
  • Dealing with all enquiries and complaints in a confident, courteous and helpful manner, being an ambassador for the Centre.
  • Act as an information source for all users and visitors to the Centre, ensuring that information provided is appropriate and accurate.
  • Undertake telephone duties including answering, filtering and transferring calls promptly and helpfully, to provide a professional and reliable service.
  • Relay messages to all staff and volunteers promptly and clearly in order to ensure excellent and consistent communication.
  • Maintain the security of the premises by monitoring the CCTV system, controlling access to gates and managing the door entry system in compliance with the Centre’s security procedures, ensuring that any issues or concerns are dealt with in a timely manner appropriate to the incident.
  • Ensure the Reception office and waiting area are presentable and provide a positive first impression for visitors and in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
  • Liaisie with the caretaking staff to ensure that the building is setup according to the scheduled activities and events.
  • Take bookings for events ensuring that all relevant information is recorded and communicated to the team.
  • Take payments for activities and to receipt money according to the Centre’s procedures.
  • Undertake administrative tasks for all departments as required.
  • Manage the Centre’s calendar, produce letters, send emails and update records to ensure accurate communication and efficient information capture and storage.
  • Maintain filing systems for the Centre’s services as required and to ensure that information is updated and easily accessible in line with the organisations Data Governance policies.
  • Provide cover for other administration and reception colleagues and to work as part of the Administration team.
  • Ensure that any accidents to clients, staff or volunteers are reported in accordance with correct procedures.

What you'll need:

  • You will be educated to a good standard including maths and English.
  • Have experience of working in a busy, client-facing environment and providing excellent customer service and have experience of working in a similar administrative role.
  • You will also be experienced within a customer facing role, with be used to handling and reconciling money
  • Excellent numeracy and literacy skills, together with excellent verbal and listening skills and effective written communication skills
  • A Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook

This role is part time for 29 .5 hours per week, working Monday to Thursday 15.30-22.30, and Sunday 9.00-12.30.
