This Chef role is based at Lady Sarah Cohen House in Friern Barnet, N11. Working 40 hours each week on a rota basis over 5 out of 7 days. There will be occasional evening work to cover events.  Jewish Care is a leading communal organisation. It is the largest health and social care charity for the Jewish community in the UK, caring for nearly 7,000 people every week. Approximately 1500 staff from multi-cultural backgrounds together with 3,000 volunteers help to maintain our services. It provides a wide range of services to help meet the community’s physical, social and emotional needs, both directly and in partnership with other organisations. We care & support many people including; older people with dementia, disabilities, mental health needs and Holocaust survivors and many more.

The 350 Hotel services team members form part of the Operations Department based at all resources at Jewish Care. Our Head Office of which is based in Amelie House in Golders Green. This role is based at Lady Sarah Cohen House in Friern Barnet, N11.  Working 40 hours each week on a rota basis over 5 days out of 7. There will be occasional evening work to cover events.


The Role


The Chef is involved with the delivery of Hotel Services within Jewish Care Homes and Community Centres. The role is responsible for the effective delivery of food services to an excellent standard. Accountable for food standards, meeting Health & Safety Regulations, financial controls, management and development of teams and effective communication.

 

Principal Accountabilities / Responsibilities 

 

  • To ensure all food hygiene and Health & Safety practices are monitored, standards met and recorded in line with organisational Policies and current legislation 
  • Ensure all food produced is to the agreed standard, developing innovative approaches to ensure market trends and cultural requirements are met
  • To work within Unit controls in line with the budget set as directed by their Line Manager

 

Qualifications & Experience


  • City & Guilds 7061/7062 or equivalent qualification
  • Health & Hygiene NVQ Level 2 
  • Proficient in English 
  • Proven experience as a Chef in the Hospitality industry, preferably a multi-site operation
  • Able to prioritise and manage own workload to meet deadlines
  • A team player
  • Knowledge of dietary requirements, for example gluten free, allergen awareness
  • Can produce a varied menu according to cultural requirements
  • Minimum of 12 months work experience in the Hospitality industry
