Anita Dorfman House is our new 64-bed residential, nursing and dementia care home replacing The Princess Alexandra Home in Spring of 2019. Purpose-built to the highest standards, the care home provides brand new facilities and quality care in a modern environment. On the top of floor of the care home is Wolfson Assisted Living, 16 studio apartments for people who have low assistance needs but want to live in a care home environment. Anita Dorfman House and Wolfson Assisted Living are part of Sandringham, our new care and community hub that sits within 16-acres of beautiful green space, with a new community centre and Independent Living apartments opening in 2020.

 

The working hours are 38.5 each week, working shifts on a rota basis, starting at 8am and ending at 8pm.

The role of a care assistant is to assist and support residents in a wide range of daily activities so that they can achieve optimum wellbeing, independence, self-expression, fulfilment and have as positive an experience as possible.

 

You will strive to provide all stakeholders, including residents, their relatives or representatives, volunteers, external visitors, professionals and colleagues, with a positive ‘customer experience, thus enhancing their experience as well as their view of our organisation; as a caring and professional services provider.  As a Carer you will have a key role that impacts on the quality of life of the residents.

 

Principal accountabilities / responsibilities

 

  • Support residents in our residential care home, in all activities of daily living which are specified in their care plan and or are required in order to maximise wellbeing (physical, emotional, social etc.). These include personal care, food and drink, administering medication, accessing health care and recreational activities
  • Engage with residents and other stakeholders in a way that reflects their preferences, abilities as well as taking into account any impairment. This will be done in a way that will nurture their sense of self

 

 

Requirements for the Health Care Assistant:

 

  • Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care or desire to be trained
  • Experience of working in a health care environment (essential) as either a HCA (Health Care Assistant) or Care Worker
  • Demonstrate a support role working with older people with dementia
  • Willing to undertake all aspects of care or non-care duties to meet both the physical, emotional and social needs of our residents
  • Able to work shifts (including weekends and evenings)
