This role is based at our Michael Sobell Centre in Golders Green, NW11. Working 35 hours each week over 5 out of 7 days, on a rota basis.

The job holder will be working in the Cafe delivering daily services to our customers on the campus and will be an ambassador for the in-house catering and hospitality operation.

 Purpose of the Role/Job summary

  • To oversee the running of commercial catering operations for Café, Restaurant and Hospitality throughout the campus.
  • To communicate with Executive Chef/Head Chef and General Manager to ensure all catering/hospitality requirements are delivered to the required standard.
  • To ensure quality and customer experience standards are delivered.

The Catering operation at the Maurice & Vivienne Wohl Campus provides a wide range of catering and hospitality within a Jewish environment for tenants, residents, day centre members, central office staff and external clients on a daily basis.

The service operates seven days per week including festival periods. 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • To ensure all Café, Restaurant & Hospitality staff within the Campus are working to organisational and legislative standards to ensure best practice is met and maintained.
  • To ensure all food hygiene, health and safety and best practice is monitored, met and recorded in line with organisational standards, legislation, policies and procedures.
  • To purchase materials, consumables, non-consumables within the limits of the budget and in accordance with organisational standards, policies and procedures.
  • To liaise with internal and external clients to ensure requests are fulfilled.
  • To plan and provide quotations for internal and external events accurately and to agreed timescales.
  • To plan, organise & deliver hospitality events to the required standard.
  • To ensure that all members of the Café, Restaurant & Hospitality team are allocated work duties and to monitor the quality and thoroughness of their work to maintain set standards
  • To work within the unit budget, administer unit controls in line with budget and consistently seek and implement ways of improving the quality and cost effectiveness of the service
  • To ensure the cash taking facilities are maintained to the standards, policies and procedures.
  • To ensure that Café, Restaurant & Hospitality staff are delivering good customer care standards at all times
  • To deliver excellent leadership and motivational skills ensuring the needs of the staff are met and maintained.
  • To complete opening and closing procedures as required to set standards, policies and procedures.
  • To demonstrate good standards of customer service, through regular personal contact with the customers to ensure their needs are met.
  • To represent the Organisation at any catering/hospitality service meetings required and to report regularly to the General Manager any matters discussed with Customers to ensure the highest standards are met and maintained
  • To ensure that all Company Policies and Procedures are fully complied with, together with all statutory legal requirements and regulations to ensure standards are met and maintained
  • To carry out all clerical activities of unit controls, records, timesheets and time books, in accordance with organisational requirements
  • To be flexible and available to attend events as they arise to meet customer need.
  • To attend training sessions and meetings as required to ensure best practice is met and maintained.

Requirements

  •  High level of secondary education
  • Willingness to undertake supervision, NVQ training and any other training that may be appropriate
  • Excellent Computer skills to include knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint
  • Can demonstrate good awareness of working in a multi-cultural environment
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Practices
